Serving our Community
FBC is proudly following Jesus’ example of serving by serving Hallowell and surrounding communities
Back to School BBQ
FBC was proud to sponsor the Hall-Dale Elementary School (HEDS) back to school BBQ by both donating food and providing our parents from HDES to set-up, serve food, and clean up. This, first of it’s kind event for HDES, was a huge success with over 400 in attendance to start off the school year with a bang.
Our youth organized, wrapped, and hand delivered the following for surrounding school districts:
- 21 Thanksgiving Food Baskets
- 24 Christmas Food baskets
- Gifts for 27 families in need at Christmas
- Food to go home with 21 HDES school families over Thanksgiving break to provide necessary nutrients while kids were not in school
Feeding the Hungry
Families within FBC who are struggling financially are given food or other assistance to help them in their time of need. Our youth also serve at Bread of Life Food Pantry to help the hungry.
Old Hallowell Day BBQ
FBC proudly participates in the Old Hallowell Day Parade and invites everyone for free hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and chips…serving hundreds each year.
FBC proudly supported community youth basketball and baseball this year. In addition, we partnered with Bulldog Strong Basketball camp directed by our very own Ryan and Jamie Madore. Representatives of FBC hosted an anti-bullying basketball event with FBC’s Jason “White Shadow” Gibbons showing his incredible basketball drills skills. Many members of FBC coach various sports throughout our entire area, sharing the love of Jesus with each child throughout every season.
Financial Peace University
Each year FBC offers Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University class to those who want to learn to be debt free. This 9 week course covers everything from the debt snowball, to saving an emergency fund, giving, and investing. For info on our next course, please email Kristi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Clothes for Kids in Need
FBC attendees collected clothes, hats and mittens for four different elementary schools to help families who could not afford to provide these for their children.
Annual Living Nativity
Each year FBC shares the amazing story of God’s love in sending Jesus to earth as a baby. Our Annual Living Nativity has become a family tradition for many families as all gather around the campfires to hear the story of Jesus’ birth from the Gospels intermixed with Christmas Carols. Coffee, hot chocolate, lots of baked goods and a petting zoo are all free of charge. Thousands of people hear the Good News each and every year through this event held on December 23 from 6:00-9:00 on Water Street.
*FBC and its members support various other community organizations and programs such as rape response and prevention and help for pregnant women.
Supporting our State
FBC supports American Baptist Churches of Maine whose goal is to provide resources for local church across Maine to become healthy, vibrant places for people to meet Jesus. Click here for more info on ABCOM.
