At FBC, Children are not just a priority; they are a part of our church family. We believe that children are not the church of tomorrow, but are used by God to reach people today. Because we value children, we have put a great amount of thought into our children’s program.
The program that we use is called the WoRM model (Workshop Rotational Model). In a nutshell, our kids all learn in different ways (some through art, some through video, others through drama, puppets, hearing, games, cooking, nature etc.) so we teach our kids what the Bible says in as many ways as we can. To facilitate this, we stick to the same theme or Bible story for a month and repeat it with four or five different ways of teaching so each child gets to learn how he or she can best learn. The repetition allows our children to learn, not only the stories, but how they can use the principles in their lives.
Our Sunday School teachers are a great team of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and teenagers who volunteer to teach a month at a time. Most teachers teach the same lesson four times, once to each of the age groups during each of the two services. For your child’s safety, teachers have been trained in child safety and have been screened.
Our kids participate in various outreaches throughout the year. This year they have visited a local nursing home, baked pies for the food bank and delivered them, wrote letters to our American Soldiers, participated in our churches’ annual living nativity, and served a Christmas breakfast to the rest of the church.
